Walt Disney World is pulling back the curtain on its grand plans for 2026, and let me tell you, it's shaping up to be a year packed with pixie dust and plenty of reasons to book that trip. From refreshed rides to returning fan-favorite festivals, it sounds like they're aiming to keep things fresh and exciting. And, honestly, after the last couple of years, a little Disney magic is *exactly* what the doctor ordered.
Disney World 2026: What HUGE Changes Are Coming?! ...
One of the biggest highlights? Get ready, *Frozen* fans! Frozen Ever After at EPCOT is getting a major upgrade. We're talking brand-new Audio-Animatronics for Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff, and Disney’s taking inspiration from the stunning figures over at Hong Kong Disneyland's World of Frozen. Forget the projection mapping – these figures are going for a more realistic look. It's a pretty significant change and one I'm definitely curious to see in person. Hopefully, they nail that 'real' look!
EPCOT, as always, will be a hub of activity. The 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts is slated to run from January 16th to February 23rd. Think artisanal eats, gorgeous artwork, and belting out show tunes from Disney on Broadway. Plus, Figment's Brush with the Masters Scavenger Hunt is coming back, alongside a new Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game Collection Quest. Something for everyone, right?
For those who prefer their Disney after dark, the Disney After Hours events are making a triumphant return in 2026. Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT will all be offering these separately ticketed events, granting guests shorter wait times, character meet-and-greets, and complimentary snacks. Pro tip: you can enter as early as 7 p.m., even if the event officially starts later. Sneaky, but effective for maximizing your time.
Spring will bring the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival (March 4th to June 1st). Expect those incredible topiaries, lush gardens, delicious bites at the Outdoor Kitchens, and the Garden Rocks Concert Series. Honestly, this festival is just pure joy. It’s a feast for the eyes (and the stomach!).
And what about the rides? Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, after being closed since January 2025, is set to reopen in the spring with "new magic." Think phosphorescent pools and colorful rock formations in a new underground section. But beware – a sudden thunderclap will shake things up! Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is also getting a major overhaul and relaunching in 2026. New ride vehicles inspired by Buzz, detachable blasters, and improved targets. This sounds like a serious upgrade that might actually make me want to ride it again.
