Well folks, conference play is really starting to sizzle in College Hoops, and you know what that means: it's time to separate the contenders from the pretenders. More importantly, we’re all glued to the screens, wondering which of these undefeated teams can actually *stay* undefeated. It's a long season, and the pressure cooker is only getting hotter.
Undefeated?! College Hoops Brackets BUSTED! What's...
As of January 1st, 2026, there are six teams still boasting a perfect record. Let's dive into a quick look at these unblemished squads, examining their signature wins and the gauntlet of challenges that lie ahead. Will they crumble? Or will they rise to the occasion? That's the million-dollar question.
Leading the pack, we've got **Arizona (No. 1 in the polls)**. The Wildcats have been battle-tested, racking up impressive wins against Florida, UConn, and Alabama – all Quad 1 victories. That's a seriously impressive resume. Their next big hurdle is BYU on January 26th, but before they get there, they'll have to navigate a tricky stretch against Kansas State, TCU, Arizona State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, and UCF. No easy outs in that bunch.
**Iowa State** is another team to watch. Their mid-January clash with No. 17 Kansas is circled on everyone’s calendar. But first, they have to get past Baylor and Oklahoma State. Those Big 12 games are never a cakewalk.
Then there's **Vanderbilt**. The Commodores haven't faced a ranked opponent yet, but they do have solid wins over UCF and SMU (28th in NET). Their schedule is about to get a whole lot tougher, though. No. 14 Alabama awaits on January 7th, followed by a brutal stretch against Florida, Arkansas, and Kentucky. We'll see what they're really made of.
**Nebraska** has quietly put together a strong resume, with two Quad 1 wins against Kansas State, Wisconsin, and a ranked Illinois team. Their nail-biting 58-56 victory over No. 9 Michigan State on Friday night really turned some heads and solidified their claim as a legitimate threat. I saw that game, and let me tell you, the atmosphere in Lincoln was electric.
**Miami (OH)** presents a bit of an enigma. They're a perfect 6-0 on the road and undefeated in Quad 2 games, but they haven't faced a Quad 1 opponent. Interestingly, they won’t face a ranked opponent at all this season. That said, Akron and Bowling Green are both highly regarded by NET, with Akron even outranking Miami. It will be interesting to see if that strength of schedule comes back to bite them down the line.
Now, flipping the script, let's take a moment to acknowledge the teams struggling to find their footing. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have 11 programs still searching for their first Division I victory. It’s a tough situation, and you have to feel for those players and coaches. Teams such as Texas Southern, N.C. Central, The Citadel, and Kansas City, among others, are all looking for that elusive first win. Let's hope they can turn things around soon!
