Henry Winkler, the man we all know and love as "The Fonz," or maybe more recently as acting coach Gene Cousineau from "Barry," is making one thing crystal clear: retirement is not on his radar. And honestly? Good for him. At 80 years young, this iconic actor shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, and frankly, it's inspiring.
Henry Winkler's SHOCKING Retirement Revelation! Fa...
Winkler, a two-time Golden Globe winner, recently put those pesky retirement rumors to rest during an appearance on the "IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson" podcast. He's juggling "several jobs" right now, including his History Channel series "Hazardous History," so it’s safe to say he's keeping busy. "I’m very grateful," Winkler stated, swatting away the speculation like a pesky fly. "People keep asking me am I gonna retire, or, ‘Have you retired?’ And I think that is the furthest thing from my imagination. I will retire when I am not able to [act] again, more." The mere thought of calling it quits, he added, is "deadly." I have to agree, for some people, work isn't just a job, it's a lifeline.
And it’s not like he's just coasting on past successes. Winkler has a packed schedule. His upcoming film "Normal," directed by Ben Wheatley and co-starring Bob Odenkirk and Lena Headey, is slated for release by Magnolia on April 17th. It sounds intriguing, and with that cast, I'm definitely planning to check it out. This guy is working with some of the best in the business.
But wait, there's more! As if acting in films and hosting a TV show weren't enough, Winkler is also a prolific children's book author. In May 2025, he and his writing partner Lynn Oliver will release their *40th* children's book, "Detective Duck: The Mystery at Emerald Pond." Forty books! That's an incredible accomplishment, and a testament to his dedication and creativity. It's amazing to see someone with such a long career continuing to push themselves and explore new avenues. I mean, seriously, who writes *forty* books? Henry Winkler, that's who.
Ultimately, Henry Winkler's refusal to retire isn't just about staying busy. It's about passion, purpose, and a genuine love for what he does. He's a role model for all of us, proving that age is just a number and that it's never too late to pursue your dreams. So, keep creating, Henry! We'll be watching, and probably reading too. And maybe, just maybe, he'll inspire us all to keep going, even when we feel like slowing down.
