Iran on Brink?! Unrest Explodes - What Happens Next Will Shock You!
Current Affairs 01 January 2026

Iran is once again facing a period of intense instability, arguably the worst since the widespread unrest of 2022. Fueled by a rapidly collapsing currency and a deepening economic crisis that's squeezing ordinary Iranians, mass protests have erupted across the country. And adding fuel to the fire, Israeli intelligence agencies appear to be openly supporting the demonstrations.

Iran on Brink?! Unrest Explodes - What Happens Nex...

The current wave of discontent was sparked over the weekend when merchants in Tehran launched a strike. This action was a direct response to the Iranian rial plummeting to record lows – reportedly hitting around 1.44 million to the dollar. To put that in perspective, just a year ago, it was hovering around 860,000. That’s a massive drop, and it’s understandable that people are feeling the pinch. Iranian officials have acknowledged the severity of the economic situation, but have also promised a "decisive response" to what they see as foreign-backed efforts to destabilize the nation.

And that brings us to Israel. Never shy about its adversarial relationship with Iran, the Israeli government appears to be actively encouraging the protests. The Mossad spy agency, through its Farsi-language X (formerly Twitter) account, has been practically cheering on the demonstrators. In a rather brazen move, they even claimed to have agents embedded within the crowds, writing, "Go out into the streets together. The time has come. We are with you. Not just from a distance or through words. We are also with you on the ground." It's a pretty significant escalation in the shadow war between the two nations, if you ask me.

The unrest has quickly spread beyond Tehran, engulfing cities like Mashhad and Isfahan. What started as economic frustration is now taking on a distinctly political flavor, with some demonstrators openly calling for the restoration of the monarchy – a system overthrown during the 1979 Islamic Revolution. It's a potent symbol, and shows just how far the frustration has reached.

Adding to the already volatile mix are unverified videos circulating online. These clips allegedly show protesters attacking government buildings and facilities associated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and in some cases, setting them on fire. One video purportedly shows a Basij base, a paramilitary militia within the IRGC, being torched in Chenareh. Another, allegedly filmed in Anza, depicts protesters burning a local IRGC facility. The authenticity of these videos remains unconfirmed, but they paint a picture of widespread chaos and anger.

Another disturbing video, reportedly from Nahavand, shows individuals believed to be security forces firing upon and charging at an unseen group. While hard to verify definitively, numerous sources are reporting fatalities and injuries on both sides. If true, these protests are significantly more intense than anything we've seen since the 2022 unrest sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini. Let's hope things don't escalate further; the stakes are incredibly high.
