Madrid Tourism Fair: Is 2025 the Year Travel Roars Back?!
Travel & Tourism 01 January 2026

Madrid is gearing up for another massive influx of travel professionals as IFEMA MADRID prepares to host the 46th edition of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR, from January 21st to 25th. And already, some big news is starting to trickle out. This year promises to be particularly interesting, especially for anyone with an eye on investment and opportunities in the Americas.

Madrid Tourism Fair: Is 2025 the Year Travel Roars...

Why? Well, Mexico, a perennial favorite for tourists and investors alike, is pulling out all the stops. Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, recently unveiled an ambitious program specifically designed to showcase the country's stunning diversity and, crucially, its untapped investment potential. Think beyond the all-inclusive resorts, folks; there's a lot more on the table here.

The buzz is definitely building around Mexico's status as the Partner Country at FITUR 2026. That's a prime position, giving them a huge platform to really shape the narrative and attract some serious attention. It's more than just sunny beaches and delicious tacos (although, let's be honest, those are major draws!). It's about sustainable tourism, cultural heritage, and developing new regions. It’s about painting a complete picture of what Mexico has to offer.

The official announcement event, held at the Mexican Embassy in Spain, was packed with key players. Beyond Secretary Rodríguez Zamora, you had heavy hitters like Ambassador Quirino Ordaz, Altagracia Gómez from the Economic Development Advisory Council, and Bernardo Cueto Riestra, President of ASETUR (the association of state tourism secretaries). Even IFEMA MADRID's own Executive Vice President, Daniel Martínez, was there. That level of participation really underscores the importance of this initiative and Mexico's commitment to making a splash at FITUR.

Frankly, I’m already looking forward to seeing what Mexico unveils. They've got a compelling story to tell, and FITUR is the perfect stage. Will they focus on eco-tourism? Perhaps highlight emerging destinations beyond the usual hotspots? Maybe we'll even see some new tech innovations aimed at improving the tourist experience. Whatever they choose to showcase, one thing's for sure: Mexico is coming to Madrid ready to do business. And that’s definitely something worth watching.
