Okay, folks, get ready to kick off 2026 with a fresh batch of free games! Sony just dropped the PlayStation Plus lineup for January, and it's looking pretty solid. We've got something for everyone, from racing junkies to platforming aficionados and even those who like a good bit of crafting. Let's dive in, shall we?

The headliner this month is definitely *Need for Speed Unbound* for the PS5. Released back in 2022, this entry in the long-running racing franchise brought a bold, new visual style to the table. Think street racing meets comic book aesthetics. It's all about outsmarting the cops, dominating weekly qualifiers, and ultimately, taking on The Grand, Lakeshore's ultimate street racing challenge. I remember when *Unbound* first came out; the initial reaction to the art style was definitely mixed, but it grew on a lot of people, myself included. It’s a fun, adrenaline-pumping ride, and hey, who doesn't love a good cop chase?

Next up, we've got a blast from the past, but with a fresh coat of paint. *Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed*, coming to both PS4 and PS5, is a remake of the Wii classic from 2010. For those who missed it the first time around, you play as Mickey Mouse exploring the Wasteland, a forgotten realm filled with… well, forgotten Disney characters. It's a charming 3D platformer, and it's always cool to see Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney's original star, get some love. Nostalgia factor is high with this one, and it's a great way to introduce a new generation to a unique piece of Disney history. I personally loved the original, and I'm excited to see how this remake modernizes the gameplay while retaining the original's charm.

Rounding out the trio is *Core Keeper*, available on both PS4 and PS5. This one's for the builders and explorers out there. It's a mining sandbox adventure that you can play solo or with up to eight friends. Dig, craft, build your base, and explore a dynamically evolving world. Think *Terraria* meets *Stardew Valley*, but with a whole lot more digging. I’ve heard great things about this one, and I'm looking forward to giving it a try. The dynamically evolving world sounds particularly intriguing; it means there's always something new to discover.

Just a quick reminder, PlayStation Plus subscribers, you've got until January 5th to snag December's free games, which include *Lego Horizon Adventures*, *Killing Floor 3*, *The Outlast Trials*, *Synduality Echo of Ada*, and *Neon White*. Don't miss out! So there you have it, folks. A pretty decent lineup to start the new year. Happy gaming, and we'll see you in the virtual world!
