2026 Will Be A Nerdy Paradise! Prepare For Fandom Overload!
Gaming News 27 December 2025

As 2025 winds down, it's hard not to look ahead. Despite some turbulence in the industry this past year – layoffs, studio closures, all that jazz – the creativity and sheer number of anticipated releases for 2026 are giving us serious hope. If you're a gamer, a comic book aficionado, or just someone who loves a good story, next year is shaping up to be something special.

2026 Will Be A Nerdy Paradise! Prepare For Fandom ...

Game Informer, as always, has its finger firmly on the pulse of the gaming world, and their assessment of 2026 as a potentially landmark year is spot on. Sure, everyone's buzzing about Grand Theft Auto VI (and rightly so!), but the undercurrent of excitement for other titles is just as palpable. We're talking about games like Marvel's Wolverine, which looks surprisingly brutal; the enigmatic Pragmata; and even whispers of a new Resident Evil, potentially titled "Requiem." Don't even get me started on the possibilities of a new Forza Horizon or Tomb Raider game; the nostalgia is already hitting hard. And of course, Nintendo – you just know they're holding something amazing back for a surprise reveal. The speculation alone is half the fun!

But the geek-out doesn't stop at Video Games. After a relatively slow year for adaptations, 2026 is bringing the heat to the big screen. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has huge shoes to fill after the success of the first, and the potential for both a Street Fighter and a Mortal Kombat II movie to deliver some seriously over-the-top action is definitely there. As for comic book movies? It feels like Marvel and DC are gearing up for a major comeback with titles like "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" and "Avengers: Doomsday." And let's not forget the small screen – new seasons of Daredevil, X-Men '97, and The Boys? Yes, please!

And for those of you who prefer swords and dragons to superheroes, 2026 is bringing us Season 3 of "House of the Dragon" and a brand new "Game of Thrones" prequel series, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms." Winter might be coming... eventually... but in the meantime, we've got plenty to keep us occupied.

Speaking of occupied, let's not forget Star Wars returning to theaters with "The Mandalorian & Grogu," plus the highly anticipated "Dune: Part Three." Toss in new installments in franchises like Moana, Scream, Shrek, and even a Masters of the Universe movie, and it's clear there's something for everyone. And personally, I'm always excited to see what Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg are cooking up.

Look, let's be real. 2025 hasn't exactly been a walk in the park. Between political turmoil, economic uncertainty, and some tough times in the gaming job market, the need for a little escapism has been pretty intense. It’s important to stay informed, sure, but sometimes you just need to disconnect, recharge, and lose yourself in a good story, whether it's through a video game, a movie, a comic book, or a new show. And from the looks of it, 2026 is going to provide plenty of opportunities to do just that.
