Okay, here we go again. Seems like former President Trump is back to his old tricks, launching a pretty nasty attack on CNN's Kaitlan Collins. This time, it's all happening over on Truth Social, and it's… well, it's classic Trump.
Trump's SHOCKING Attack on Reporter! What Happens ...
He misnamed her, calling her "Caitlin Collins of Fake News CNN," and then went on to brand her "Stupid and Nasty." The reason? Apparently, he wasn’t thrilled with her reporting, specifically something about the White House ballroom project. Honestly, it's a bit exhausting watching this pattern repeat itself, but here we are.
Trump's rant centered around Collins' on-air commentary regarding the construction of a new White House ballroom. He claims it's bigger, more beautiful, and even "under budget and ahead of schedule, as my jobs always are." He also insisted, rather emphatically, that "there are no taxpayer dollars involved. It is being fully paid by private donations.” That last bit is, of course, key, given the sensitivity around spending on such projects.
But here's where things get a bit more interesting. Collins wasn't actually asking about the ballroom at all. She clarified on her Instagram Story that "Technically my question was about Venezuela.” This alludes to her line of questioning concerning the administration’s bombing of alleged drug-smuggling vessels off the Venezuelan coast.
Now, this is a serious issue. The U.S. has conducted multiple strikes in the Caribbean, and these actions have reportedly resulted in over 80 deaths. The administration claims it’s all part of an anti-narcotics campaign. Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, unsurprisingly, has a different take, alleging that the real motivation is control over the country’s extensive oil reserves. The State Department, naturally, denies this.
It's worth noting that Collins had actually posed similar questions to Trump earlier in the day. This happened on the red carpet at the Kennedy Center, where he attended the FIFA World Cup Draw. She questioned him about accepting FIFA’s newly announced peace prize while, simultaneously, the military was conducting these rather aggressive operations. So, perhaps the ballroom was just a convenient target for his frustration. It's hard to say for sure.
What's clear, though, is that this latest outburst continues a troubling pattern of Trump targeting female journalists with critical remarks. It's a tactic he's used repeatedly, and it's something that, frankly, we’ve all become somewhat accustomed to. But just because it's familiar doesn't make it any less concerning.
