The incident, confirmed by Galatasaray SK in a brief but pointed statement, casts a shadow over what should have been a routine post-game journey. “Tonight, after our Bursaspor Basketball match, the bus carrying our team was attacked with stones by a group on its return journey," the club announced. They added, reassuringly, that the team would be continuing their journey to Istanbul after switching to a different bus. Thank goodness for that.

While the club's statement is direct, it is, understandably, rather terse. It’s the kind of announcement that leaves you with more questions than answers. Who was responsible for the attack? What motivated them? And most importantly, were any of the players or staff injured? As of this writing, details remain scarce. It's frankly sickening to hear about such incidents, especially when they involve athletes simply trying to do their job. Sports rivalries are passionate, I get it. I've seen some heated games myself, and the atmosphere can be electric. But this crosses a line. Violence, or even the threat of violence, has absolutely no place in sports. It’s disappointing that something like this can still happen in today's world.
