Duke's Secret Weapon?! Scheyer's Bold Claim After Crushing Win!

East Lansing, MI - The Cameron Boozer era is officially underway in Durham, folks. And after No. 4 Duke's impressive road win against a tough No. 7 Michigan State team on Saturday, it's hard not to get caught up in the hype. Coach Jon Scheyer and Boozer himself were both brimming with confidence after the Blue Devils' dominant second-half performance, and for good reason.

Duke's Secret Weapon?! Scheyer's Bold Claim After ...

“We tried to put him [Boozer] in some good situations where he does such a good job getting downhill and the dynamic of his scoring and passing. I just thought he willed us," Scheyer commented post-game, clearly impressed by his star player. "In the second half, what he did was incredible. Michigan State is tough as could be. Coming in here, I thought our guys were tested beyond anything we've seen so far and just really proud of our guys to get that win.”

Boozer definitely earned the praise, leading the charge with a monster stat line: 18 points, 15 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block. Those are the kind of numbers that make NBA scouts salivate. But it wasn't just a one-man show. Nikolas Khamenia chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Caleb Foster added 12, including a clutch three in the final minute that sealed the deal. It was a true team effort, which seems to be a hallmark of this Duke squad.

This victory moves Duke to a perfect 10-0 on the season, and marks their fourth win against a ranked opponent. They've already taken down Kansas, Arkansas, and defending-champion Florida – a pretty impressive resume before conference play even begins. Michigan State, who entered the game undefeated, can certainly hold their heads high with ranked wins over Arkansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina. But Duke simply proved to be too much on this particular afternoon.

But perhaps the most telling quote came from Boozer himself. "We got weapons. We got guys at every position that can shoot, drive and pass," he said. "I got to make the right play every time, and all my guys are going to find me. Back-to-back games, two different guys hit big-time shots. I think that's what describes our team. We're nine deep, and we're going to keep it rolling."

That's the key, isn't it? "We're nine deep." In today's college basketball landscape, having depth is crucial. And if Duke can continue to play with this level of confidence and cohesiveness, they'll be a force to be reckoned with come March. They have one more ranked, out-of-conference test remaining, hosting No. 19 Texas Tech on December 20th. That will be another great chance to continue refining their game and prove they are worthy of the top ranking. I, for one, will be watching closely.
