The Testaments: First Look! Hulu's Premiere Date Revealed!
Movies & TV Series 06 December 2025

Alright, Handmaid's Tale fans, brace yourselves. Hulu just dropped a few first-look photos from "The Testaments," and let me tell you, Gilead is looking as chilling as ever. We're officially getting this highly anticipated sequel series in April, and I, for one, am already setting reminders.

The Testaments: First Look! Hulu's Premiere Date R...

If you haven’t read Margaret Atwood's "The Testaments," the award-winning novel on which it's based, get on it! This isn't just a simple continuation; it's a whole new chapter. We’re jumping forward in time, years after Offred’s story. While "The Handmaid's Tale" was intensely focused on one woman's fight for survival, "The Testaments" looks like it's broadening the scope, examining the crumbling foundations of Gilead through the eyes of a new generation.

And speaking of eyes, Ann Dowd is back as Aunt Lydia! Honestly, Dowd's portrayal is so iconic, so terrifyingly convincing, that her return alone makes this series a must-watch. We'll also be introduced to a fresh crop of talent, including Chase Infiniti as Agnes, Lucy Halliday as Daisy, and Rowan Blanchard as Shunammite. Rounding out the cast are Mattea Conforti as Becka, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, and Birva Pandya. It’s a pretty exciting mix of fresh faces and, well, Aunt Lydia.

The premise is compelling. For these young women, Gilead isn't some historical trauma; it's all they've ever known. Think about that for a second. No memories of freedom, no concept of choice. Just a bleak future mapped out for them. Facing forced marriages and lives of servitude, these girls are going to have to find their own ways to fight back, to seek out allies – old and new – to reclaim their lives. It's a coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of absolute oppression. Talk about high stakes.

Behind the camera, we've got Bruce Miller back as showrunner and executive producer, which is reassuring. He clearly understands the source material and the tone of this world. And with seasoned producers like Warren Littlefield and Elisabeth Moss also on board, it's safe to say this project is in experienced hands. Mike Barker, who directed several episodes of "The Handmaid's Tale," is directing the first three of "The Testaments," which suggests a seamless transition in terms of visual style and pacing. Produced by MGM Television, "The Testaments" is aiming for a high bar – and I’m really hoping they clear it. April can’t come soon enough.
