Elder Scrolls TV Show? Todd Howard's SHOCKING Revelation!
Gaming News 06 December 2025

So, Amazon's "Fallout" show has been a smash hit, right? Naturally, everyone's wondering if Bethesda's other massive franchise, "The Elder Scrolls," is next in line for a TV adaptation. And of course, all eyes are on Todd Howard, the head honcho at Bethesda, to weigh in on the rumors. The good news? He's not saying "no." The less good news? He sounds like he thinks "Fallout" was a way better fit for the small screen in the first place.

Elder Scrolls TV Show? Todd Howard's SHOCKING Reve...

In a recent chat with Eurogamer, Howard didn't completely shut down the idea of an "Elder Scrolls" TV show. But he did suggest that "Fallout's" post-apocalyptic weirdness gave it a leg up. According to Eurogamer's reporting, Howard "can't rule in or rule out an Elder Scrolls thing in the future," but he made it clear that "Fallout" was "more uniquely suited" with "more to say in its genre.” Which, honestly, I kind of get.

Think about it: "Fallout," with its blend of retro-futurism, dark humor, and commentary on consumerism, is inherently more...pointed. As Macaulay Culkin, who's going to be in "Fallout" Season 2, pointed out in an IGN interview, the series has a ton of lore and thematic depth to draw from. "The Elder Scrolls," while rich in its own lore, is a more traditional fantasy setting. Don't get me wrong, I love me some dragons and magic, but it's arguably a harder sell to a broader audience who might not be as familiar with Tamriel.

Anyway, back to "Fallout." The TV show is clearly going strong, with Season 3 already greenlit. The cast seems genuinely invested in the long haul, which is always a good sign. Aaron Moten, who plays Maximus in the series, even let slip that the current plan is for the show to run for five or six seasons. He mentioned that when he was first cast, the showrunners laid out a clear "endpoint" for his character arc, and that endpoint hasn't changed. That's some serious planning right there.

So, what does this all mean for "The Elder Scrolls"? Well, maybe once "Fallout's" story has run its course, Bethesda might finally turn its attention to adapting their fantasy world. Or maybe they'll decide it's best left to the realm of video games. In the meantime, we're all still waiting for "The Elder Scrolls 6," aren't we? Perhaps its release will shift the conversation, maybe even reignite the TV show possibility. Only time will tell. Fingers crossed, eh?
