Rockstar Games is softening the blow of yet another Grand Theft Auto 6 delay with a familiar offering: Grand Theft Auto V. While anticipation for the next installment in the iconic franchise reaches fever pitch, PlayStation Plus subscribers are set to receive a digital dose of Los Santos nostalgia. This isn't the first time GTA 5 has graced the PS Plus service. The game previously enjoyed two separate stints, appearing in December 2023 and November 2024, before being removed after approximately six months each time. However, this re-addition comes with a slight caveat: only subscribers to the higher-tier Extra and Deluxe plans will have access to the sprawling open-world adventure.

Sony is expected to officially unveil

Sony is expected to officially unveil the November PlayStation Plus lineup on Wednesday, November 12, adding further fuel to the speculation. The inclusion of GTA 5, while welcome news for many, arrives against a backdrop of mounting frustration surrounding the development of GTA 6.

Just when fans thought the wait was nearing its end, Rockstar Games announced a significant delay to the highly anticipated sequel. Originally slated for a May 26, 2026 release, GTA 6 has now been pushed back to November 19, 2026. The studio cited the need to ensure the game lives up to the immense expectations surrounding it as the primary reason for the delay.

"To deserve the expected and deserved value," Rockstar explained in their statement, acknowledging the disappointment this news would undoubtedly cause. This extended waiting period means fans will have to endure over a year longer than initially anticipated before they can explore the new world and narrative Rockstar has been crafting.

While the return of GTA 5 to PlayStation Plus offers a temporary distraction and a chance to revisit a beloved classic, it ultimately serves as a bittersweet reminder of the long road ahead before GTA 6 finally arrives. The re-release is undoubtedly a strategic move by Rockstar to maintain player engagement and goodwill during this extended development cycle, but whether it will fully satiate the hunger for a truly new Grand Theft Auto experience remains to be seen. For now, PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to revisiting the sun-drenched streets of Los Santos, while the world continues to hold its breath for the arrival of GTA 6.
