PoE 2: Transform Into a WYVERN?! You Won't Believe What's Coming!
Gaming News 05 December 2025

Get ready to unleash your inner wild thing, Path of Exile fans! Grinding Gear Games just dropped a bombshell announcement: The Last of the Druids update is hitting Path of Exile 2 on December 12th, and it's bringing shapeshifting to a whole new level. Forget your polite tea parties; this is about becoming a force of nature.

PoE 2: Transform Into a WYVERN?! You Won't Believe...

What does that actually mean? Well, prepare to morph your Druid into a ferocious wolf, a hulking bear, or even a majestic, fire-breathing wyvern. Yes, you read that right. Wyverns! A newly released teaser trailer is already setting the internet ablaze (pun intended), showcasing the unique powers of each form. And honestly, it looks absolutely bonkers in the best way possible.

The key to these transformations lies in three distinct talismans. Each one unlocks a different beastly form. Fancy yourself a pack hunter? The wolf form lets you summon a loyal crew to overwhelm your enemies. Prefer brute strength? The bear amplifies its power with every earth-shattering roar. Or maybe you've always dreamed of soaring through the skies, raining down lightning and fire? The wyvern is calling your name. Personally, I'm leaning towards the wyvern. Who doesn't want to be a dragon-like creature?

But it's not just about the transformations. Even in human form, these Druids are no slouches. They'll be wielding earth and storm magic, summoning thunder and volcanic eruptions to obliterate their foes. Think elemental power on steroids. Plus, the update introduces two new Druid ascendancy paths: Shamans, who amp up Druidic magic to insane levels, and Oracles, who can anticipate enemy moves for a tactical edge. This adds a whole new layer of strategy to the game.

Beyond the shapeshifting shenanigans, The Last of the Druids update is packed with even more goodies. We're talking a dragon-crafting league mechanic (dragons and crafting? Sign me up!), 30 new support gems, an expanded passive tree with over 250 passive skills, and a new Pinnacle Boss, Atziri, to test your mettle against. It's a substantial update, to say the least.

Want to get your hands on the game before the official release? You're in luck! Grinding Gear Games is hosting a free weekend preview from December 12-15 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It’s the perfect opportunity to try out the Druid and see if shapeshifting is your cup of tea. And speaking of release dates, don't get too excited for a March 2026 launch. Game director Jonathan Rogers recently announced that Path of Exile 2 won't be hitting its 1.0 release until late 2026. Hey, good things come to those who wait, right?
