Destiny 2: Renegades - Is It Enough to Save the Game?!

Destiny 2: Renegades - Is It Enough to Save the Game?!
Gaming News 04 December 2025

Okay, folks, let's talk about Destiny 2 and its latest foray into, well, let’s just call it… unexpected territory. "Renegades," the new expansion, promised (or perhaps threatened) a "Star Wars"-inspired adventure, and my initial reaction, I have to admit, was a cringe so profound it almost warped spacetime. As someone who's been glued to "Destiny" since day one, weathering the ups and downs like a seasoned Guardian, the thought of it suddenly morphing into a galaxy far, far away felt… off. Like they'd run out of ideas and decided to raid the Lucasfilm archives. I couldn’t help but feel it was a bit too "Fortnite" – chasing trends instead of forging their own path. You know, the kind of crossover that makes you question everything.

But here's the thing: sometimes, you eat your words. Slowly. Very slowly. While those initial reservations haven't completely vanished – the scent of desperation still lingers faintly – I've got to admit, the epic cutscenes are starting to win me over. We're talking lightsaber-esque combat, sweeping orchestral scores that shamelessly (and effectively) channel John Williams, and a general sense of grandiosity that's actually… kind of captivating. I mean, I’m still rolling my eyes a little, but I’m also strangely invested. Maybe that’s the power of nostalgia, or maybe it's just good old-fashioned spectacle. Either way, it's working, at least for now.

We’re still early in this whole space opera journey, mind you. I haven't gotten to the lightsaber crafting part yet, which, let's be honest, is either going to be amazing or a complete disaster. There's a fine line there. So, a definitive verdict on "Renegades" is still pending. I need to see how the endgame content plays out, how the story wraps up, and whether the "Star Wars" flavoring elevates the "Destiny" experience or just feels like a cheap gimmick. It’s a big question mark hanging over everything right now. I’ve got a lot of hours logged so far, but the real test is in the long haul.

That said, I can confidently say that "Renegades" has exceeded my (very low) expectations. It’s surprised me, which is something I always appreciate in a game. It takes guts to swing for the fences like this, even if it feels a little… desperate. I’ll be back with a more comprehensive analysis once I've completed the campaign and delved into the endgame activities. Until then, Guardians, may the Light be with you… and also, maybe, the Force? For Light and Life!
