Istanbul’s BIST 100 index saw a bit of a wobble this morning, but it’s still hanging tough above that crucial 11,000 mark. It’s Thursday, December 4th, 2025, and while the bulls aren’t exactly charging, they’re definitely holding their ground – for now, anyway.

Around 1 PM local time, the index was down a hair – just 0.09% – landing at 11,027.09 points. That’s a dip of 9.73 points from yesterday’s closing bell. Not exactly a bloodbath, but enough to make some traders a little jittery, I’d wager.

Trading volume is still quite robust, clocking in at a hefty 53.3 billion Turkish Lira. That suggests there’s still plenty of action happening under the surface. Looking at specific sectors, banking seems to be taking a bit of a hit, down 0.71%. On the flip side, holding companies are enjoying a slightly better day, up 0.61%. It's the usual push and pull we often see.

Digging a little deeper, it seems real estate investment trusts (REITs) are the darlings of the day, soaring by 2.84%. Maybe people are betting on bricks and mortar in these uncertain times? On the other hand, financial leasing and factoring companies are having a rough time, plunging by a substantial 7.3%. Ouch.

Now, what’s driving all this? Well, according to analysts, investors are glued to their screens, watching everything from the real effective exchange rate here at home to the weekly money and banking stats. Of course, they're also keeping a keen eye on what’s happening across the pond, specifically the weekly jobless claims data coming out of the United States. It’s a global village, as they say, and everyone’s interconnected. I personally think we all keep a weather eye on overseas markers, more now than ever before.

Technically speaking, the word on the street is that the BIST 100 has support levels around 11,000 and 10,900. If it falls below that, things could get a little dicey. Resistance, on the other hand, is hovering around 11,200 and 11,300. So, it looks like it will remain to be seen if the index will break out, or fall down a bit.
