Paranormal Activity REBOOT?! Wan & Blum Team Up - What Will Happen?!
Tech Product Reviews 04 December 2025
Okay, here's a crack at that "Paranormal Activity" news story, written as naturally as I can manage:

Get ready to sleep with the lights on again, folks. Horror maestros James Wan and Jason Blum are joining forces to resurrect the "Paranormal Activity" franchise. Yep, that's right, the found-footage scares are coming back to the big screen.

Paranormal Activity REBOOT?! Wan & Blum Team Up - ...

Paramount Pictures is jumping in, co-financing, co-producing, and distributing what will be the *eighth* film in the series. Original director Oren Peli, the guy who started it all with that unbelievably low budget, is back as a producer through his Solana Films banner. Steven Schneider will executive produce, along with Blumhouse-Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Judson Scott. Alayna Glasthal is keeping an eye on things for the studio. It’s a real horror dream team, honestly.

Now, details are tighter than a drum right now. We don't know who's directing, what the plot is about, or even when we can expect to see it in theaters. But sources say it's a "priority" for both Paramount and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster. Which, given the track record of both those companies in the horror space, makes sense. They know what scares people.

Remember that first "Paranormal Activity"? It was a phenomenon. For a found footage film made on what was essentially a shoestring budget, it was a terrifying and creative project. The sequels... well, they had diminishing returns, didn't they? The franchise seemed to finally shuffle off this mortal coil after "The Ghost Dimension" in 2015. And then there was "Next of Kin" on Paramount+, which tried to reboot things but, let's be honest, no one really liked it. I watched it, and even *I* was underwhelmed.

The big question is: Will this new installment acknowledge any of the previous films? Will it be a hard reboot, ignoring everything that came before? Or will they try to weave it into the existing, somewhat convoluted, lore? Only time will tell.

"Diving in with James for this exciting rebirth of the franchise that started it all for Blumhouse is exactly what we dreamed of when we merged with Atomic Monster," Blum said in a statement. He added, “I’ll be actively involved with him to introduce this new chapter. Thankfully, we’re able to spend a little more than the $15,000 we had on the first movie, but one thing will remain the same — do not see it alone.” Good advice, Jason. Good advice.

The original "Paranormal Activity" was a critical darling, earning an impressive 8/10 review score on release and was even heralded as one of the best haunted house movies of 2018. It's going to be interesting to see if they can recapture that magic.

Oh, and here's a fun little tidbit: a "Paranormal Activity" video game is also in the works, slated for release in 2026. So, prepare yourselves for more scares in both the theater and your living room. This franchise is definitely not dead.
