Andrew Scott's TV Return: You Won't BELIEVE What Show He Just Joined!

Big news for fans of cringe comedy! Andrew Scott, the internet's favorite "hot priest" from *Fleabag* and the chilling Moriarty in *Sherlock*, is officially joining the cast of HBO's cult favorite, *The Comeback*. Yes, you read that right – Valerie Cherish is back, and she's bringing a whole new level of awkward with her in 2026.

Scott will be rubbing elbows with the hilarious ensemble cast led, of course, by Lisa Kudrow herself. We're talking Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, Damian Young… the whole gang. And judging by the names added this season, it looks like Valerie is going to have a whole new set of characters to misunderstand and awkwardly try to befriend. Matt Cook, Jack O’Brien, and a slew of others including Abbi Jacobson and John Early round out a packed cast.

*The Comeback*, for those who somehow missed it, is a painfully funny look at Hollywood through the eyes of Valerie Cherish, a sitcom actress desperately trying to stay relevant. Created by Michael Patrick King and Kudrow, the show originally aired in 2005, then resurfaced after a nine-year break. The third season, now confirmed for a March 2026 premiere, promises more cringe-worthy moments and a sharp satire of the entertainment industry.

What's especially interesting is how relevant the show feels, even now. King, speaking at an HBO event in London, hit the nail on the head when he said, "Twenty years later, everybody is Valerie." Think about it: everyone's curating their lives online, constantly worrying about their image and projecting a version of themselves for the world. In a way, Valerie's constant need for validation and screen time doesn’t seem so outlandish anymore; it’s practically the norm! He went on to say Valerie "seems saner now." I'm not sure I'd go that far, but he has a point.

King and Kudrow are both back as executive producers, alongside John Melfi and Dan Bucatinsky. The pressure's on to deliver, but with this creative team and now, Andrew Scott, on board, *The Comeback* season three has a shot at being the best yet. I'm personally excited to see how Scott fits into Valerie's world. Will he be another celebrity she tries to glom onto? A rival? Or, dare we hope, a genuine friend? We'll have to wait until 2026 to find out, but I already know it's going to be good.

Scott, by the way, is represented by CAA, United Agents, Relevant, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Just in case you were curious about the inner workings of Hollywood.
