One particularly intriguing release is a collaborative effort, which always piques my interest. There's something special about seeing two authors combine their talents and writing styles to create a unique and hopefully captivating story. I'm always curious about how the collaboration process works and what kind of magic they manage to weave together. Unfortunately, this week's selections feel a little homogenous regarding representation – something I always keep an eye on – but the stories themselves still sound compelling.

Okay, Austen fans, listen up! Someone decided to ask, "What if Jane Austen…but vampires?" And honestly, I’m here for it. "Awakening Pride," by (author's name needed!), gives us Lorena Navarro, an Austen enthusiast who thinks a boarding school in a renovated Victorian mansion sounds like the perfect setting for her own romantic adventure. Little does she know, she's about to wake up a three-century-old vampire named William Pride. Think Mr. Darcy, but with fangs. It sounds delightfully bonkers.

The premise is that William, after his long nap, needs Lorena to help him navigate the modern world. Naturally, he enrolls in her school (because where else would a vampire go?). Things get complicated when he discovers he's the key to saving his kind, forcing him to choose between preserving his legacy and embracing a human life. And, of course, there’s a blossoming romance between him and Lorena to further muddy the waters. It’s a classic trope, I know, but the Austen twist gives it a fresh and exciting edge. I’m personally hoping for some witty banter and maybe a ballroom scene with a subtle gothic undertone.

Shifting gears entirely, we have a darker, more mystical offering. This one involves the Farthing sisters, who have always been told they're descendants of Persephone. Apparently, they can even see the ghost that lives in their attic, named Henry. Things get complicated when one sister falls for Henry, and another banishes him to the underworld. It sounds like a wild ride of family secrets, magical mayhem, and tough choices. Will the sisters risk everything to save Henry, or will they prioritize saving their strained relationships? Described as a blend of Laini Taylor and *The Haze*, this one promises to be a captivating blend of romance and dark fantasy. Definitely adding this to my TBR pile!
