Spotify's dropped its annual Wrapped report, and as always, the internet is buzzing. We’re talking personalized year-end listening summaries, data dumps revealing our deepest musical loves (and guilty pleasures), and of course, the big reveal of who dominated the streaming charts. So, who took the crown in 2025?
Bad Bunny Crushed?! Spotify Wrapped 2025 SHOCKER!
Globally, Bad Bunny is still king. The Puerto Rican superstar snagged the top spot as the most streamed artist in the world, racking up a mind-boggling 19.8 billion streams. His album, “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS,” also landed in the number one position worldwide. Seems people just can't get enough of the Benito! On the song front, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s collaboration, “Die With A Smile,” surprisingly edged out the competition. And in an interesting turn, the soundtrack to “KPop Demon Hunters” secured the #2 spot for global album. Makes you wonder just how catchy those tunes are, right?
Meanwhile, back in the States, the reigning queen Taylor Swift took the top artist title. No surprises there, really. Swifties are a force to be reckoned with. However, it was Morgan Wallen's "I'm The Problem" that claimed the title of top album here, showcasing the continued popularity of country music. And, perhaps a bit unexpectedly, Kendrick Lamar and SZA's collaboration, "luther (with sza)," topped the charts for the most-streamed song in the US. A soulful, powerful track that definitely deserves the recognition.
Beyond the headline numbers, Wrapped is all about the individual experience. The app provides a detailed breakdown of your top genres, artists, and songs. It even tracks how many times you've streamed your top 100 tracks and maps the monthly evolution of your top five artists. It’s kind of like a musical autobiography, revealing your sonic journey over the past year. It can be surprising, insightful, and sometimes a little embarrassing, depending on your late-night listening habits! I know I was shocked at how many times I listened to that one obscure 80s synth-pop track.
Spotify is also rolling out new features this year, including a "Listening Age" tool, which compares your musical taste to others in your age group. Expect some intergenerational music battles, folks. There’s also "Fan Leaderboards" that rank users globally based on their total listening time for specific artists – so you can finally prove you're the *biggest* fan. Plus, they're categorizing users into six new "Clubs" based on their streaming habits. I'm curious to see what kind of quirky musical tribes will emerge.
But it doesn’t stop there. Spotify is planning approximately 50 real-world fan experiences in major cities. And keep an eye out for a short film featuring Sap Concho, the endangered Puerto Rican crested toad who's the mascot for Bad Bunny's album. It'll be on social media and even in select theaters. All in all, it’s a massive campaign, and Spotify is clearly pulling out all the stops to make Wrapped 2025 a memorable experience.
