Baldur's Gate Dev JUMPS to Witcher 4?! What Will This Mean For Both Games?!
Gaming News 03 December 2025

Big news in the gaming world this week: A key developer from the team that brought us the absolutely stellar Baldur's Gate 3 is making a jump. Felix Pedulla, who clearly knows a thing or two about crafting compelling cinematic experiences, is leaving Larian Studios and heading to CD Projekt Red.

Baldur's Gate Dev JUMPS to Witcher 4?! What Will T...

For those who haven't been completely glued to their screens for the past several months (I confess, I haven't!), Baldur's Gate 3 has been *the* game of the year. Larian really nailed the storytelling and visual presentation. Pedulla himself spent six years there, focused specifically on those cinematic elements that made the game so immersive. He described his time at Larian as "incredible" and "frankly wild," which sounds about right considering the rollercoaster that game development can be.

So, where is he going? Well, Pedulla is set to become a Senior Cinematic Designer at CD Projekt Red. Think of it as trading "Baldur's Gate dice for some Polish steel," as he put it. That's a pretty vivid way to describe jumping from a fantasy RPG to, well, another fantasy RPG, albeit one with a very different feel. I'm curious to see how his experience will translate.

The million-dollar question, of course, is: What will he be working on? While Pedulla hasn't explicitly stated his project, all signs point to The Witcher 4. It makes sense, right? Given his cinematic expertise, it's not a huge leap to assume he'll be helping CD Projekt Red craft those signature Witcher cutscenes that fans have come to expect. Interestingly, this isn't the only recent acquisition for the Witcher team. We saw key developers from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 join up last month too. It seems like they are really building out a great team for this next installment in the Witcher saga.

The anticipation for The Witcher 4 is already building, even though we're likely still quite a ways off from release. Remember that first teaser trailer from The Game Awards last year? It was enough to get everyone hyped, but CD Projekt Red has already tempered expectations, stating that we shouldn’t expect any major reveals this year. Fair enough; better to take their time and get it right, especially after the Cyberpunk 2077 launch. Still, with talent like Pedulla now on board, the future of the Witcher franchise looks brighter than ever. We'll be keeping a close eye on this one!
