Alright, zombie fans, mark your calendars! The second official trailer for "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" just dropped, and it looks like Nia DaCosta is taking us on a wild ride. I've been a fan of the original "28 Days Later" since it first scared the living daylights out of me, and this sequel promises to shake things up in a big way.
Bone Temple Returns! What Secrets Will 28 Years Un...
The trailer, which hit the web earlier today, gives us a glimpse into the drastically altered world that Boyle and Garland created. We see returning themes, but also a completely fresh narrative and aesthetic. It's not just more of the same, which I find really exciting. The story appears to be delving into some seriously messed-up relationships and impossible predicaments.
Ralph Fiennes, playing Dr. Kelson, seems to be at the center of some kind of earth-shattering romance – the trailer hints at potentially devastating consequences. We are talking changes to the world, here! On a darker note, young Spike, portrayed by Alfie Williams, seems to have an absolutely awful encounter with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell). If the trailer is anything to go by, this encounter is shaping up to be a truly horrifying experience for him.
It seems like "The Bone Temple" is going to be exploring how both the infected *and* the survivors have evolved (or devolved, perhaps) in this brutal, post-apocalyptic landscape. That’s a fascinating angle. Honestly, the social commentary in the first film was one of the things that made it so impactful, and I'm hoping DaCosta will continue that trend. It will be interesting to see whether the survivors become more monstrous than the infected.
DaCosta’s directorial style is definitely evident, even in this short trailer. It feels grittier, perhaps even more visceral than the original, which is saying something. Of course, we'll have to wait until the full release to make a proper judgement, but I'm optimistic based on what I've seen so far. The visuals are stunning, and the overall tone is appropriately bleak and tense.
So, get ready to brave the apocalypse again, folks. "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" hits theaters January 16th, 2026. That's a long wait, I know, but if this trailer is anything to go by, it's going to be worth it. I, for one, will be first in line. Just hoping I can get some sleep between now and then!
