Movies & TV Series 03 December 2025

Well, folks, mark your calendars and brush up on your German and Italian! Warner Bros. Discovery just dropped a bombshell: HBO Max is finally making its way to Germany and Italy on January 13, 2026. That's right, in just a little over a year, our European friends across the pond will be diving headfirst into the world of Westeros and beyond.

HBO Max Europe Launch: 2026 Date SHOCKINGLY Reveal...

But the expansion doesn't stop there. Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein are also getting the HBO Max treatment on the same date. This move represents a serious power play by WBD, significantly bolstering their presence in the European streaming market. It's all part of their master plan to take on the likes of Netflix and Disney+ on a global scale. One key market remains untouched, however: The UK is still waiting, and unfortunately, there's no confirmed launch date for them just yet.

So, what kind of goodies can these new subscribers expect? HBO Max, already a heavyweight in over 100 territories, is bringing its full arsenal of content. We're talking HBO originals, Warner Bros. blockbusters, DC Universe superheroics, and a whole host of Max Originals. To sweeten the deal, WBD is rolling out a fresh wave of original programming specifically tailored for the German-speaking market.

Two German originals are particularly noteworthy: *4 Blocks Zero*, a prequel to the gritty gangster drama *4 Blocks* (which I personally loved!), and *Banksters*, a true-crime heist thriller. Both are being produced by W&B Television, so you know they're going to be top-notch. At launch, expect heavy hitters like *The Pitt*, *IT: Welcome to Derry*, and the usual HBO suspects like *House of the Dragon*, *The Last of Us*, and *Euphoria*. And just a few days later, on January 19th, *Knight of the Seven Kingdoms*, the latest *Game of Thrones* prequel, will hit the platform. Talk about timing!

But that's not all, folks! The movie library is stacked with classics like *Superman*, *The Batman*, *Dune*, and the entire *Harry Potter* saga. New films like *Weapons* and *The Conjuring: Last Rites* are also on the horizon. And for those who prefer their comfort food TV, there's plenty of *Friends*, *The Big Bang Theory*, and *Rick and Morty* to go around. Plus, a healthy dose of documentaries and unscripted series for good measure.

And for the sports fanatics out there? HBO Max is jumping into the game with both feet. All subscription plans will include live streaming of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. If that's not enough, subscribers can add on the Australian Open and Roland-Garros tennis slams, as well as the Tour de France. German and French viewers get winter sports championships and World Cups, while Italians will get to enjoy English FA Cup and UFC coverage. It's a veritable feast for the sports-loving soul!
