Movies & TV Series 02 December 2025

Good news for those of us already plotting our New Year's resolutions (and, let's be honest, probably breaking them within the first week): the BBC has just dropped a massive hint about how to spend the first night of 2025. Get ready, because Season 4 of "The Traitors" is officially hitting our screens on New Year's Day at 8 PM, local time. Yes, you read that right – January 1st, folks! Time to stock up on snacks and prepare for some serious armchair sleuthing.

'The Traitors' Season 4: BBC Release Date SHOCK Wi...

Of course, the fabulous Claudia Winkleman will be back at Ardross Castle, doing her usual enigmatic thing as she oversees a fresh batch of civilian contestants. They'll all be battling it out for a potentially life-changing prize of up to £120,000. The BBC is clearly banking on keeping us hooked from the get-go – the first three episodes are slated to air on consecutive nights on BBC One and iPlayer. So, clear your schedules and prepare for a binge!

This new civilian series follows hot on the heels of the wildly successful "Celebrity Traitors," which, if you haven't heard, absolutely *crushed* viewing records for the BBC. Seriously, the finale – remember when Alan Carr was dramatically revealed as the champion traitor? – pulled in close to 15 million viewers. That's a lot of people glued to their screens, trying to figure out who's lying and who's telling the truth. Personally, I thought Alan played a brilliant game, but maybe I'm just easily fooled.

Now, let's talk behind-the-scenes a little. "The Traitors" is the brainchild of Studio Lambert, with Season 4 being commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment for the BBC. The executive production team includes Mike Cotton, Sarah Fay, Lewis Thurlow, and Darrell Olsen, with Lynette Woods-Reynolds, Gemma Scholes, and Faye Donaldson handling production executive duties. Neil McCallum and Syeda Irtizaali are the Commissioning Editors for the BBC. It takes a village, right?

And just a little bit of trivia for you: "The Traitors" actually started out as a Dutch show called "De Verraders," created and developed by IDTV in collaboration with RTL Creative Unit. The original series was produced by IDTV, and All3Media International handles global format and tape sales. Studio Lambert, for those keeping score, is part of All3Media. So, it's a truly international phenomenon at this point.

So, there you have it. "The Traitors" is coming back to banish our January blues. Set your reminders, get your theories ready, and prepare to spend your New Year's Day (and the subsequent evenings) shouting at your television. You know you want to.
