Helldivers Movie Lands Fast & Furious Director! What Happens Next?!

Well, folks, buckle up because this is a crossover I didn't see coming. Justin Lin, the man who practically redefined car chases and gravity-defying stunts in the *Fast & Furious* franchise, is reportedly strapping on a Helldiver's helmet. Yes, you read that right. He's signed on to direct the film adaptation of the popular video game, *Helldivers*, according to *The Hollywood Reporter*. It's a bit of a left turn, but honestly, I'm intrigued.

Helldivers Movie Lands Fast & Furious Director! Wh...

Lin is no stranger to big-budget action, that's for sure. We're talking about the guy who masterminded some of the most over-the-top, physics-bending moments in cinematic history. From Tokyo drifting to launching cars out of skyscrapers, he's proven he knows how to deliver spectacle. He even dabbled in space before with *Star Trek Beyond*, although I think we can all agree that film was...divisive. Still, the man has a knack for creating visually impressive action sequences, and that's something *Helldivers* desperately needs.

Now, *Helldivers* itself is a pretty interesting property to adapt. It's a cooperative shooter with a healthy dose of satire, heavily influenced by the iconic *Starship Troopers*. Think hordes of alien bugs, over-the-top weaponry, and a whole lot of friendly fire. The recent *Helldivers 2* has been a massive hit, praised for its gameplay freedom and rewarding progression. The fact that it's getting an Xbox release in 2025 suggests it has incredible staying power, which makes it a prime candidate for cinematic adaptation.

But here's where things get even more interesting: Gary Dauberman is writing the screenplay. Yes, *that* Gary Dauberman – the guy behind the *Annabelle* films, *The Nun*, and co-writer of *It*. So, we're talking about a genre-bending mashup of sci-fi action and horror sensibilities. While some might scratch their heads at this pairing, I personally think it could be a stroke of genius. *Helldivers* already has that undercurrent of unsettling alien horror. Dauberman could really amp that up and give this film some serious teeth.

Ultimately, this project has potential written all over it. Lin's action pedigree combined with Dauberman's horror background and the already solid foundation of the *Helldivers* universe could make for a truly unique and exciting film. I'm eager to see if Lin can capture the frantic, chaotic, and darkly humorous spirit of the game on the big screen. One thing's for sure: this is going to be one wild ride. Let's just hope he doesn't send Vin Diesel into orbit this time.
