Gotham Awards: SHOCKING Upsets! Who Took Home the ...
This year, Paul Thomas Anderson's *One Battle After Another*, starring none other than Leonardo DiCaprio, is leading the charge with a whopping six nominations. That’s gotta be a record, right? It’s up for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and a Breakthrough Performer nod for Chase Infiniti. Plus, both Benicio Del Toro and Teyana Taylor are nominated for Outstanding Supporting Performance for their roles in the film. Talk about a powerhouse! But the competition is fierce, trust me.
A24 is definitely making its presence felt with Mary Bronstein’s *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You* snagging four nominations. And let's not forget the international heavy hitters! Jafar Panahi’s *It Was Just an Accident*, fresh off its Palme d’Or win at Cannes, and Park Chan-wook's *No Other Choice* are both in the running with three nominations each. I hear Panahi is expected to be here tonight, which would be absolutely incredible given everything he's been through. Huge respect.
Beyond the competitive awards, we've got a star-studded list of tribute recipients this year. Luca Guadagnino and Julia Roberts are getting the Visionary Tribute for *After The Hunt*, which I've heard is absolutely stunning. Noah Baumbach is taking home the Director Tribute for *Jay Kelly*, and the *Sinners* cast will be honored with the Ensemble Tribute. Then there's Guillermo del Toro, Oscar Isaac, and Jacob Elordi getting the Vanguard Tribute for *Frankenstein* (color me intrigued!), Tessa Thompson nabbing the Spotlight Tribute for *Hedda*, Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman honored with a Musical Tribute for *Song Sung Blue*, and Jeremy Allen White and Scott Cooper rounding things out with the Cultural Icon Tribute for *Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere*. It’s a seriously impressive lineup, showcasing the breadth and depth of talent across film and television.
Now, let's dive into the Best Feature nominees, because this is where things get really interesting. We’ve got a diverse range of films vying for the top prize, including Ari Aster’s *Bugonia*, *East of Wall*, *Familiar Touch*, *Hamnet*, *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You*, *Lurker*, *One Battle After Another* (of course!), *Sorry, Baby*, *The Testament of Ann Lee*, and *Train Dreams*. A real mix of genres and styles. Keep your eyes peeled for these titles; they're likely to be major players throughout awards season. Stick with us – we’ll bring you the winners as soon as they’re announced!
