WoW Housing Arrives! But a SHOCKING Problem Could Ruin Everything!
Gaming News 01 December 2025

Okay, folks, after what feels like an eternity – 21 years to be exact – Blizzard is *finally* delivering player housing to "World of Warcraft." Yes, you read that right. We're not talking about another iteration of the Garrison fiasco. This is legit player housing, coming in early access on December 2nd for those who preorder the "Midnight" expansion.

WoW Housing Arrives! But a SHOCKING Problem Could ...

I remember back in the day, during "Burning Crusade," constantly hearing guildies gripe about the lack of housing. It was always the *one* feature everyone wanted, and frankly, I'd started to think it was just a running joke. But here we are. It's actually happening.

Of course, the ghost of Garrisons looms large. The "Warlords of Draenor" attempt at player bases was… well, let’s just say it wasn't great. They were isolated, offered limited customization, and arguably made the world feel smaller. But Blizzard seems to have learned from that experience, promising a very different approach this time around.

According to a recent GameSpot article (seriously, go check it out, Cameron Koch does a great job laying it all out), a key difference is accessibility. Forget the restrictive systems of "Final Fantasy XIV" and the tax nightmares of "Elder Scrolls Online." "WoW" is offering houses for a measly 1,000 gold. That's like, two world quests these days. Easily obtainable, which is a huge win.

And that's by design. As Kurlancheek stated, the team felt it was wrong for players who've called Azeroth home for so long to not actually *have* a home. The focus is on accessibility and avoiding real-world chores, which I think is spot on. The last thing I want to do after a long day is manage virtual property taxes. No thank you!

Blizzard is also trying to cater to both casual and hardcore decorators. There’s a basic mode for those who just want a simple place to hang their hats, and an advanced mode for players who want to unleash their inner architect. We're already seeing some wild creations in the alpha and beta, so the potential is definitely there.

But here's the crack in the foundation, at least in my opinion: balancing the needs of the "housing mains" with everyone else. Will the system be engaging enough for the dedicated decorators without feeling overwhelming for the average player? That's the million-gold question. Still, after all this time, I'm cautiously optimistic. Maybe, just maybe, "WoW" housing will finally live up to the hype.
