The roar of engines has faded, the smell of burning rubber is dissipating, and the 2025 AVIS Turkish Track Championship has officially drawn to a close with a thrilling finale at Istanbul Park this past weekend, November 29-30. The fifth and final round of the championship delivered its fair share of excitement, drama, and a dash of unpredictable weather, leaving motorsport fans buzzing as they head into the off-season.
Istanbul Park Race Ends 2025 F1 Season: What a Fin...
The Super Group races were certainly a highlight. In the first race, Orçun İnce, representing Texaco Team AMS, demonstrated impressive skill and speed, securing a well-deserved first-place finish. Fatih Yavuz followed closely behind, claiming second, while Kaan Marangoz rounded out the podium in third. The competition was fierce, and the crowd was definitely on the edge of their seats. It's always great to see such passionate support for local racing talent.
Race two in the Super Group threw a curveball at the drivers – rain. The wet conditions leveled the playing field, and the 2024 TOSFED Star Search winner, İrfan Alper, capitalized, showcasing his adaptability and claiming victory while racing for TOSFED. Alper's win is a testament to the success of the Star Search program, proving that it's a solid pipeline for nurturing new racing talent. Hasan Çelik took second place, and Ege Ekmekçibaşı grabbed the final podium spot, making for a very different top three from the previous race.
Meanwhile, in the Maxi Group, Çağlayan Çelik, driving for Erven Maden H2K Racing, dominated the first race, taking a commanding first place. Zekai Özen secured second, with Berkay Akça finishing third. However, the results of the second Maxi Group race are currently pending announcement. Apparently, an appeal has been filed, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to see how that shakes out. Hopefully, it gets resolved quickly and fairly.
Despite the sometimes-soggy conditions, the atmosphere at Istanbul Park was electric. A large and enthusiastic crowd braved the wet weather to witness the action firsthand, proving the enduring popularity of motorsports in Turkey. There's something truly special about the energy of a live race, isn’t there? The passion, the sound, the sheer thrill of it all. Looking forward to what the 2026 season brings!
