Zootopia 2 DESTROYS Box Office! Only Marvel Can Stop It?!
Gaming News 01 December 2025

Well folks, buckle up, because "Zootopia 2" has absolutely exploded onto the scene! Disney's latest animated offering isn't just a cute bunny and a sly fox solving crimes, it's a box office behemoth, and the numbers are frankly, astonishing.

Zootopia 2 DESTROYS Box Office! Only Marvel Can St...

The film has secured a mind-boggling $556 million global opening weekend. Let me repeat that: Five hundred and fifty-six MILLION dollars. That includes a cool $156 million domestically over the extended Thanksgiving holiday. But the real story here is the international market, which contributed a massive $400 million to the total. China alone accounted for over half of that overseas haul. It's safe to say Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde have fans across the globe.

This insane performance puts "Zootopia 2" in some seriously elite company. It now boasts the fourth-highest global opening of all time, trailing only the Avengers juggernauts ("Endgame," "Infinity War") and Spidey's "No Way Home." Think about that for a second. We're talking about an animated film, competing with the biggest superhero events in cinematic history. My initial thought? Disney is likely popping champagne bottles as we speak.

And the records keep tumbling! Highest global animated opening ever. Highest global debut of 2025. Highest global opening for Walt Disney Animation Studios. Highest global opening for an animated sequel ever. It's a veritable avalanche of broken records, and industry analysts are already predicting this will be a billion-dollar blockbuster. I wouldn’t bet against them.

Of course, "Zootopia 2" dominated the box office charts, both here and abroad. It's a clean sweep. Critics seem to be generally pleased, too. IGN, for example, gave it an 8/10, praising the film's handling of "weightiest issues we face as a society," all while keeping the animal puns coming. Sounds like a winning combination to me.

While Zootopia is capturing headlines, other films are also performing well. "Wicked: For Good," for instance, is holding its own with $393 million in total earnings so far. And surprisingly, "Predator: Badlands" is apparently the highest-grossing "Predator" film ever (excluding those Alien crossover movies). Who knew? Edgar Wright's "The Running Man", though, is struggling, sadly. Seems like not everyone is winning this weekend.
